Advent: Day 19

Lego Calendar:

Activity: 1. The kids Christmas program at church.
2.  Make a baby Jesus.
When I saw this idea earlier this week, I knew it was something I wanted to incorporate into our advent activities.  I sewed some muslin fabric into a peg shape.
The kids then stuffed their baby Jesus with batting and added a face.  Once their baby Jesus was finished {except for sewing it closed}, they wrapped up some plastic storage containers. I didn't have any boxes but I was in need of some extra storage boxes so they worked great to be Jesus' manger.
They cut yellow construction paper to serve as straw for their baby Jesus.  I let the two older kids sew their babies closed on the sewing machine.
Once they were sewed closed we placed their baby Jesus' in their mangers and placed them under the Christmas trees in their bedrooms.  A great reminder of the best Christmas gift... Jesus.
3.  Make a nativity ornament.

Bible Verses: Zephaniah 3:14-17
Sing, Daughter Zion;
   shout aloud, Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
   Daughter Jerusalem!
The LORD has taken away your punishment,
   he has turned back your enemy.
The LORD, the King of Israel, is with you;
   never again will you fear any harm.
On that day
   they will say to Jerusalem,
“Do not fear, Zion;
   do not let your hands hang limp.
The LORD your God is with you,
   the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
   in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
   but will rejoice over you with singing.”
