Advent: Day 15

Lego Calendar:

Bible Verses: Matthew 2:9-12
After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.  And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Activity: Go ice skating.  Write Christmas cards to friends.  Put together teacher gifts.  Make treats for pen pal packages.

The highlight of our advent activities last year was going ice skating.  My kids loved it and were really hoping to go again this year.  Each day as they pulled a slip they would say "i wonder if we are going ice skating today"  Thanks to some discounted passes from the summer reading program we were going to go ice skating again.  Then the flu hit our house and Morgan still wasn't feeling 100% today so we needed to change our activity for today.  There were some tears shed about having to change our activity but hopefully we will fit in the ice skating in next week!

Morgan made some cute tags for our homemade hot chocolate
The kids loved making Christmas cards for their friends
Landon and Mauryn loved using the cricut {have i mentioned how much i LOVE my cricut} to make gift tags for their teacher gifts and some of the presents under our tree
Morgan and Landon have had pen pals in Ohio for almost two years.  At Christmas time they make each other a handmade gift, make some type of treat, and then purchase a small gift.  Today the kids made their treats for their pen pals.  I must say I am so thankful my kids love to be in the kitchen and are very capable little cooks.
This first picture of Landon cracks me up! I believe he likes being in the kitchen so much because he can lick beaters and spatulas as well as his fingers.  He is such a little sneak!!
